What Is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a series of clear aligners that are specially crafted to perfectly fit a patient’s mouth and gradually shift their teeth into place for a great smile. These clear aligners are created from state-of-the-art plastics and custom-fitted to your teeth. Each tray shifts your teeth into place week after week and does so via a gentle force day after day.

The benefits of Invisalign allow our patients to undergo treatment while maintaining a healthy appearance. The trays are easy to care for and keep clean. In addition to this, there are minimal pains associated with Invisalign which makes it a great option for almost anyone.

Why Invisalign?

Your orthodontist may give various options for straightening your teeth so you may be wondering – why Invisalign? Some individuals do not care for the metal wires or brackets associated with braces. The appearance of Invisalign is inconspicuous and this makes this a great selling point for most people. With Invisalign, you can achieve a great smile with comfort while still maintaining great aesthetics along the way.

What is the Treatment Process Like?

The treatment process is fairly simple. Every 2 weeks or so you’ll need to change out your trays and you’ll see tooth movement so long as you are compliant with Dr. Knight’s instructions. Every 2 months or so you’ll need to revisit our office to ensure that progress is being made in the areas that are important for the health of your smile.

How Long Does Invisalign Take?

There is not a simple answer to this question. In order to get an accurate estimate of how long your treatment will take, simply request a free consultation. Most people can expect results in one to two years, but it varies based on the existing health of your smile. So long as you wear your aligners for 22 hours per day, every day you’ll begin to see results with Invisalign.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Think of these techniques as two sides of the same coin. You’re arriving at the same result, you’re just using two totally different methods to get there.

Braces work using steel wires and rubber bands to get your smile into position. Over time, these will begin to move your teeth and jaw.

Invisalign, on the other hand, uses a series of clear plastic aligners that are almost like a second skin for your teeth. They can be very comfortable compared to braces and you’ll swap them out every two weeks to get your teeth into position. Each set is a little bit different than the one before and each moves the teeth a little bit more to perfection than the last. This is also why many people consider them to be more comfortable than regular braces since you won’t have to deal with wires or brackets.
