Kentucky native Dr. Doug Knight loves practicing quality orthodontics while maintaining a busy teaching schedule.
He gets a lot of satisfaction out of making a difference — not just by caring for his patients here at home in Kentucky but also by sharing his expertise with other orthodontists and their patients from all over the world.

Dr. Knight is also a recipient of the Pacesetter Award from the Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontists (RWISO) and recently was named one of the nation’s top dentists by Woodward/White, a highly respected publishing firm.

Dr. L. Douglas Knight has been practicing orthodontics since 1995. After receiving his undergraduate and dental degrees from the University of Kentucky, he joined the Army Dental Corps, where he served for 7 years in several military assignments.
Next, Dr. Knight attended a two-year orthodontic residency program at New York University, where he earned his Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in 1995 and has been practicing orthodontics ever since.
Dr. Knight has completed a one-year advanced education program in general dentistry and a comprehensive two-year clinical continuing education program in Occlusion and Orthodontics at the Roth/Williams Center for Functional Occlusion.
Notable Accolades & Lectures
Dr. Knight has published several articles in the Academy of General Dentistry and the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. He also founded an interdisciplinary team training group with teams from around the country.
Besides operating two offices, Dr. Knight lectures frequently on a broad range of topics — such as skeletal anchorage plates and dentoalveolar distraction osteogenesis (DDO) — to study clubs and residency programs.
He has been appointed as Director of the Roth Williams International Society of Orthodontists for the United States and was the recipient of the Radcliff Rotary Rotarian of the Year award for 2021 and 2022.
Most recently, he was honored by the Hardin County School System with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dr. Knight is also the author of The FACE Book Functional and Cosmetic Excellence in Orthodontics, an Amazon best-seller.
Outside the Office
Dr. Knight has been married to Donna for 34 years and has two grown children, Connor and Kendall.
Active in his community, Dr. Knight has been a member of the Radcliff Rotary Club for over 20 years and serves as an Elder at Beargrass Christian Church, where he’s been a member since 1998. Most recently, he walked over 100,000 steps in a day to raise over $12,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association.
In his spare time, Dr. Knight enjoys flying, boating, running, scuba diving, golfing, and traveling.
