Start Your Smile Adventure With Knight Orthodontics
We know you have many choices when it comes to choosing orthodontic care for your family. We’re honored you’ve chosen to begin your smile journey at our Louisville or Radcliff office!
What to Expect at Your First Orthodontic Visit
At Knight Orthodontics, we have a patient-focused philosophy. In addition to providing optimal clinical care, we strive to maintain a fun, friendly, and informative environment.
Dr. Knight offers the safest and most efficient care available by utilizing the most up-to-date technology. Because no two patients are the same, we believe in providing customized care to you.
Below, we’ll outline five steps you can expect throughout your treatment process so you can start your journey to a new smile!
Step 1
Your First Free Evaluation
At your first visit, Dr. Knight will perform a complete oral examination to assess the health of your teeth, gums, and bone.
We’ll review your medical history so we can provide optimal treatment for you. Then, we’ll take X-rays and scans to determine the locations of your oral and maxillofacial structures and to diagnose any problems.
Our experts will gather your insurance information to prepare a cost estimate for any necessary treatment. Please be sure to bring your insurance card to your appointment.
Once we establish your custom plan, our team will discuss all financial options to determine what is right for you. Knight Orthodontics accepts most major credit cards and insurance plans and offers a flexible, in-office financing option.
Step 2
Records & Diagnosis
Next, we’ll obtain a variety of records to properly diagnose your orthodontic issues. You must share any symptoms, concerns, or discomfort with Dr. Knight so he can gather the necessary information and create a comprehensive treatment plan for you.
We have a wide array of diagnostic tools at Knight Orthodontics. Your individual case will determine which technologies are used to diagnose your condition. Dr. Knight will examine your jaws, joints, facial structures, and teeth.
Since many patients can suffer from unseen skeletal problems, 3D cone beam scans may be used to properly diagnose your issues. Modern dental technology like the i-CAT allows us to get accurate radiographic images with approximately 90 percent less radiation than traditional X-rays.
Step 3
Computerized Analysis Consultation
Once we set up your treatment options, you’ll see Dr. Knight for an appointment to discuss your case. Recent technological advances allow us to perform an in-depth virtual analysis of your treatment case.
Because of programs like Dolphin® 3D Imaging and Anatomage® rendering software, we can manipulate X-ray images to show you what you will look like after your treatment. We will discuss all aspects of treatment, including a start date and financial arrangements.
Step 4
Placing Your New Braces
Once your treatment plan has been confirmed, you’ll schedule an appointment for us to place your braces. Advancements in orthodontics allow us to perform this process quickly and comfortably.
Step 5
Follow-Up Visits
The most critical aspect of orthodontic care is compliance. This requires periodic check-ups to ensure everything is going smoothly.
Typically, we will see you every four to eight weeks to evaluate your progress and perform any necessary adjustments. Because every patient has different needs, treatment timelines can vary.
However, orthodontic treatment takes approximately one to two years to complete. During this time, you’ll need to maintain proper hygiene and continue to visit your family dentist regularly.
